Spanish 21 is a variation of blackjack, considered to be the world's most popular casino card game. The glaring difference between the two is that Spanish 21 makes no use of the 10 cards, which should appeal to casino gamblers and blackjack players who love a good challenge. You have a higher house edge, but more attractive payouts, bonuses, and rule modifications to provide a reasonable balance.
On top of the above detailed basic Spanish 21 game rules, players receive a bonus payoff for hitting 21 with one of the combinations on a non-doubled hand as listed below. Briefly, a five-card 21 pays 3:2, a six-card 21 pays 2:1, a seven or more card 21 pays 3:1. A 6-7-8 or 7-7-7 of mixed suits pays 3:2, of the same suit pays 2:1, and of spades pays 3:1. Also, a suited 7-7-7, when the dealer has a 7 face up, pays $1000 for bets of $5 to $24 and $5000 for bets of $25 or higher. Additionally, all other players receive a $50 "envy bonus". This rule does not apply after splitting.
